Deep Down and Dirty Rock ‘N’ Roll is about an aging, debt-ridden Rock Star, Ed (Suggs) and his Musical friend, Carl (Burn Gorman).

This is not the first fundraiser Team GEEK has done for the American Cancer Society. In the past we have worked with BurnGormanOnline.com on a collaborative fundraising venture benefiting both The American Cancer Society (US) and The Teenage Cancer Trust (UK), and we also raffled off a handknitted Dalek, full weekend badges for Anime Central and tickets to Chicago theatre. This year we will also be auctioning off The Traveling Duckie (http://travelingduckie.livejournal.com), that was designed after the character The Brigadier, as portrayed by Nicholas Courtney to honor him after his passing from cancer earlier this year.

Many members of Team GEEK have been personally affected by cancer – we have lost mothers, grandfathers, grandmothers, uncles, aunts, friends, and have cheered as our fathers, uncles, cousins fight their way into remission. Having experienced how much this disease can ravage those close to us, this charity is near and dear to our hearts. The American Cancer Society provides such programs as The Cancer Survivors Network, rides to and from treatment, lodging for people who need to travel for treatment, Look Good… Feel Better, counseling, along with other programs.

Our team would appreciate anything you could donate to us. The majority of items will be auctioned off on our website (http://teamgeek.glomp.net). in a series of lots. We will reserve a couple of items to be raffled off at the Relay on August 12, 2011. Donations to the American Cancer Society Relay For Life are tax deductible, and upon request you can be provided with a copy of the tax letter for the Relay For Life Norridge/Harwood Heights event. Yeah,  its been a few months. This is Tami, your faithful BGO webmistress. I’d like to thank everyone for their kind words after my husbands passing a few months ago. Its been a roller coaster since November, getting things settled and starting life over, but things are finally settling down. Theres a new layout coming to the site, and we’re revamping quite a few things.  But we have some REALLY exciting news…..
Burn has been cast in the next Batman movie! (click for link)

This is huge news, and we’ll be bringing you more information as we get it.  We’re excited for him here at BGO because this is the break into mainstream that he deserves and we can’t wait to see who he’s playing (especially if its the Riddler like the article hints at).

The six-part drama has an impressive cast list, but details are still shrouded as to the nature of Burn’s role (and many others, as the majority of the press so far has been understandably focused on Alan Cumming‘s return to British TV after 15 years (it feels longer). We’re hoping to have more on Burn’s role for you soon, and maybe even a promo or two!
